1. Do potential new members need to attend an Orientation?Yes.2. Do I need sailing experience to join?As a Full Crew or Pay-Per-Sail Crew no.  Only Captain Members are required to have experience.3. How do I sign on to a boat to go sailing?2 ways depending on which type of sail it is.  1. Member Sails – have a Captain Member aboard.  Register for them through the Book A Sail page in the Members Hub.  2. Last Minute Sails – You’ll receive an emailing informing you of them.  RSVP by email.4. How can I meet other members?1. By sailing 2. By going out together with other sailors after sailing 3.  By attending workshops and socials5. How long is my membership for?1 year from the date you sign up.6. Can I bring guests?  Is there a limit?You can bring a maximum of 4 guests at one time.   As a captain if you want to reserve the entire boat for yourself and friends (more than 4 guests), there is a 150 fee.  There is no limit on how often a particular guest comes sailing with you.7. How long is the sailing season?The main season is mid-April to mid-November with limited winter sailing.8. I heard there are volunteer opportunities, what are they?Check out the Get Involved page to learn about volunteer opportunities.9. How often are boats sailing which I can sign aboard?Most sails are during the weekend.   There’re usually 4-6 sails a day each weekend day that members can jump aboard between Member Sails and Last Minute Sails.10. Are there age limits for kids?No.  Just physical fitness and maturity limits.   If your guest is a kid he or she must be strong enough to sit and hold on to something to stay in place and mature enough to do so if told.11. What is a Last Minute Sail?A Last Minute Sail is one of our 2-4 hour lessons or excursions which we open to members for free or at a discounted rate.   We do this after someone from the public has signed aboard.  If there are seats remaining we email members about them.   All Last Minute Sails have an HRCS staffmember aboard.
