US Sailing Basic Keelboat Course
The basic keelboat certification course is designed for either brand new sailors or intermediate-level sailors who have no formal training or who need a brush-up.

What Skills Are Taught
- Weather and Navigation
- Boathandling (how to drive the boat)
- Sail trim (when to pull in or release the sails and how much)
- Tacking and Gybing (two ways of turning the boat)
- Stopping and starting the boat (not as easy as pushing the throttle)
- Man-overboard recovery
- Heaving-to
Course Fee
1 or 2 people - $445 each
3 people - $1275 (5% off)
4 people - $1600 (10% off)
Course fee includes all course materials, tests, and certification:

2. US Sailing Official Logbook of Sailing
3. US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification Standards Book
4. One-year US Sailing membership

When Are They Offered?
May 1st- Oct. 14th
Option 1: Weekends Fri.- Sun.
Fri. Class: 6:30-8:30pm
Sat. Class: 8:30am- 6:30pm
Sun. Class: 8:30am-4:30pm
(Must attend Fri, Sat, and Sun class to complete the session)
Option 2: Monday and Wednesday, 6pm - 9pm, for three consecutive weeks
