The Summer Leadership Program uses sailing as a fun learning medium to teach valuable life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication to public school students from HRCS partner schools and programs in New York City.

Goals of the Program

  • Develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Expose kids to a new, unfamiliar, natural environment
  • Build a greater sense of confidence and autonomy in kids so that they can overcome fears and reach their goals
  • Bring a unique experience to kids who might never have this opportunity
  • Allow kids to have a fun week in a constructive, safe, summer environment

Structure of the Program

  • Available to students from HRCS partner schools and programs only
  • Offered over six one-week sessions during the summer
  • Occurs Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm with a break for lunch

Age

  • 11-17
  • Participants will be grouped in boats by age.

  • Session 1: July 5 – July 9
  • Session 2: July 12 – July 16
  • Session 3: July 19 – July 23
  • Session 4: July 26 – July 30
  • Session 5: August 2 – August 6
  • Session 6: August 9 – August 13
