Our Youth Sailing Programs

Our expanded Youth Sailing Education Programs in 2010-11 will cover a wide range of opportunities that include accredited programs in math and science, winter boat building, counseling, academic tutoring, entrance into youth racing events, paid summer/academic year internships and assistance with application to high schools and colleges. All programs include extensive parent outreach.

Accredited After School Programs

The Accredited After School Program recruits freshman students from Chelsea area public high schools and engages them in a year of academic after school programming using sailing and boat building as its medium. Students meet at the Pier 66 boat house twice a week (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) from 4pm-7pm.

Summer Youth City Sail

HRCS’s City Sail serves boys and girls in middle and high school. Our sessions last for 5 days, with many campers coming back for multiple sessions. Take an adventure with a group of new friends around the Statue of Liberty, over to Governors Island, or up along the Palisades. With an instructor on board, you will captain the boat, control the sails, and work as a team to make the boat go fast. Finish the week with a series of races between the different boats to crown a week champion.

Youth Contract Courses

Working with New York City area private schools and Universities, Hudson River Community Sailing collaboratively designs custom programs to meet the needs of participating schools. The majority of our schools utilize our facility and staff during school hours over the duration of a spring or fall season.
