Basics
PREREQUISITESRecruit students from 9 partner schools to take part in two-week Orientation in September.
SCHEDULEMeet once per week, Monday-Thursday, 4-7pm
TRIPSCaven Point / Statue of Liberty (End of Fall), Dyckman Marina / Inwood (End of Spring)
TYPICAL DAYEach lesson incorporates a math topic, and has an on-water sailing component or hands-on boat building activity. On a typical day, students might learn to measure current speed using an algebraic formula, and test their calculations on the water while learning sailing.
CREDITCan earn a Math or PhysEd credit.
CERTIFICATIONSRed Cross - First Aid and CPRNew York State Safe Boating
Program Outcomes
COLLEGE/CAREER PREPARATIONStudents prepare for life after high school. 11th and 12th grade students are supported through the college application process.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING + LEADERSHIPStudents build leadership skills including self-confidence, communication and teamwork.
